Hello,
My girlfriend has a 1995 Dodge Neon with 101,000 miles. The engine will rotate, but will not start up. We have checked the timing and it is perfect. The crank sensor has been replaced, and the ignition coil has been replaced. Everything in the process from the coil to the cylinders is right. There seems to be a problem somewhere before that. What seems to be happening is that the coil will receive fire for a second, then fire will be cut off; as if electricity has been cut off to the coil. Before this happened, the dash gauges and instrument panel went crazy. Can this be something related to the auto shut down relay in the black box under the hood, or can it be the PCM? If it's not likely to be those, can the camshaft sensor be affecting it?

Sorry for the late reply.

Any testing, you need to do it with engine cranking. Check for primary voltage at the coil and injector/s. If none that will lead back to asd relay. The computer grounds the asd relay if it receives the proper signals from cam and crank sensors. Can you check for applicable trouble codes?

You may be able to get some codes by cycling the ignition switch, on--off, on--off, on, then the mil on the dash starts flashing. You count the flashes to get5 the codes. Your looking for two digit codes.

I realize this is an old post. You probably no longer own this vehicle. In the future hope you don't have any vehicle problems. If you do, keep the site in mind. They are always working to make the site better and it's free.

Have a good day.
