Engine Cooling problem
1999 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello there, my name is Fabiano and IÂ ´m having problems with my 99 intrepid. Two days ago the car started to overheat so I parked at the school where I was at and came to find out that both of the electric fans was not working, I asked my wife to turn the a-c on and off and they would not turn on, before when the car overheated it lost lots of coolant, so I let the cool down and took the car home. When I got home the car started to make this noise and the idle was going up and down. So I called the mecanic and first thing he did was to add coolant to the reservour and it started to bubble up and he said that the head gasket is bad. Today I went out there and started the car with no problems, I notice that one of the fans was not working. Need help over here please.

Thats wierd, You still should have the coolant system pressure tested to determine if you need a head gasket, also, change the thermostat

I turned the car now and seems to run good but when the temp gauge gets to almost half the coolant reservour starts to overflow thru the cap and only one fan works

Still sounds like something is clogged, how old is that thermostat? You gotta have the system pressure tested, oh yes, the radiator cap, can be bad too.
