I recently purchased a 1999 Intrepid with 102000 miles on the engine. After driving less than 200 miles the engine failed. I had another engine placed in the car and in less than 300 miles the engine failed. Is there a major problem with these engines.

Check timing it may jumped on you also check the cam and crank sensors if they in sync you need a scanner for that
try this disconnect the cam shaft and crank car to start
