I've had problems for a few months with a power steering leak but been able to deal with it until this week every time im driving and my foot hits the brake my steering wheel won't turn and it turns somewhat okay when I accelerate. What could it be? The power steering pump is completely full.

When you accellerate, the pump is spinning faster and when you hit the brakes it is at an idle. I would say either the pump is bad or the rack and pinion is leaking. Is it still leaking?

Thank you for your reply. My car is no longer leaking power steering but yes it doesn't turn when I brake but it does when it accelerates. How much would a new pump cost?

An aftermarket one would be around 150.00 for the part, and figure 1.5 hours labor.
