Dakota 4X4 indicator light

I have a '99 dakota 4x4 and when I engage the four wheel drive the indicator light on the instrument panel does not come on. Does anyone have any idea why this light would not work? Thank you, Stoney.

Even when I start the truck when all the lights on the instrument cluster come on the 4x4 light doesn't come on. I have no clue why this would be.

When you put it in 4x4 it goes into 4x4 right?
If so the bulb for the light might be out.

Yeah, it goes into 4x4, just the light does not show it is in 4x4. I want to get this fixed because friday I had it in 4x4 to get in the driveway(we got some snow) and saturday my wife took it and was driving around all day in 4 wheel drive and had no idea. It would just be nice to have it working for things like that.
