I am told I need a power steering switch so my truck can pass smog. Here the problem it never came from the factory with one installed. Now the dealer wants an additional 500 bucks to put on what should have been installed in the first place! Outrageous. Have you heard of this problem before with other Dakotas? Help

Do you have a check engine light On? When you went thru the smog test. My friend the power steeing has nothing to do with emission/smog testing

Yes the check engine light is on. When the computer is plugged in it indicates the only problem is the power steering switch. I have looked everywhere and can not find it.

Thanks

You failed the test bcuz the CEL came On-Again the power steering pressure switch has nothing to do with the exhaust gases that comes out of the exhaust pipe.
