Electrical problem
1998 Dodge Dakota 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 235000 miles

when turn key over, the starter engages and disengages for a second, then will not turn over long enough to start the truck. We have checked all wires and everything is connected and working. Have checked starter and working properly when off the truck. New starter(2 weeks old). What could be the problem. Will sometimes crank when motor is cold but not when motor has heated up.

Welcome to the forum, check the circuits at the starter relay in the power distribution center. Voltage to load side of relay is hot all the time, voltage to coil side of relay goes hot with key in the start position. When the problem occurs, did you try cranking in neutral?
