The check engine light on my 97 Dakota came on. I plugged in a code reader and P0740 came up. It says its a Torque converter clutch malfunction. I also saw some things that says that the code is a torque converter clutch solenoid. What do I need to do to fix this problem? And where is that solenoid located? Any help would be appreciated.

Having troubles with the engine? Is it idling rough or dieing in any gears? If not then most likely just had intermittent fault. Try delete code and see if it comes back.

If you are experiencing issues then check the transmission fluid level and pressure, check for debris in the tranny fluid and also make certain your wheel size is the correct standard size (meaning not oversided aftermarket wheels / tires).

Thanks, but is there a torque converter clutch solenoid or some other part that is the problem that I could change. If so where is that solenoid located on my truck. Thanks again.
