I'd start with the basics, maybe it needs a tune-up? Have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check fuel pressure. Are there any trouble codes?

To check for spark, you can pull plug wire loose, stick known good plug in the boot, ground metal part of spark plug to metal part of engine, engine cranking, watch for spark. Check more than one.

Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage.
