I have a 1992 dodge dakota sport manual, and whenever I push in the clutch or put it in neutral, the rpm's go way down to about 100. It usually dies after about 5 seconds. Then when I go to start it up again, it has to crank for about 3 seconds then it barely starts up. Is there something that I can do, or do I have to take it into a shop?

There may be a problem with fuel pressure but the computer stores codes for sensors that affect idle speeds and quality. So a scanner(see section on scanner) and fuel pressure test eliminates things until you can find the right problem. If your air filter is clean, there is not much to do except use these methods. As lomg as it is only at idle, out of gear it may be from the clutch also. Very rare but with high mileage, many things are possible.
