2003 Dodge Caravan Ignition

I have a 2003 Dodge Caravan SXT. I live in a cold state (snow)! I put my key in the ignition and I could not turn the key in the ignition. The doors and bells came on when the key was placed in the ignition but I could not turn the key to start the car. I pressed on the brake and turned the steering column. I used a key de-icer and no success. Suggestions?

This is a common problem with caravans.
The pins in the lock get dirty and stop moving freely.

Insert the key all the way in to the lock and then tap the head of the key with a small hammer, the handle of a screw driver, your kid's MP3 player.
Whatever you have handy.
