It happened suddenly with no previous symptoms. I started it after a cold/snow storm in Denver. I let it warm up at least 3 or 4 minutes, while clearing the windows. But as I got onto a regular street, I noticed, it wouldn't shift up to 2nd or 3rd. I then noticed the "check engine" light on... no buzzing.

Also the speedometer is no longer working too. This leads me to believe that a wire (signal wire) broke loose from the tranny maybe. Cause then maybe the shifting module is fine, but it's not getting the shift signal from the tranny. ???

Hi:
If the check engine light came on, there is a code set in the computer that will identify the problem. Take it to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan it for you. Most will do it for free.

Most likely you are correct. There are electric shift solenoids in the trans that can cause this.
