2000 Dodge Caravan cranks over but won't start

The van cranks over but won't start. Sometimes when you turn the key on the fuel pump sounds like it engages, sometimes it doesn't. When you continue to crank over the engine it just turns over without firing, could this be the crank sensor? If not then what else should I look for?

Check for spark
pull one spark plugwire and place it by a ground (engine metal )
ask a helper to crank as you watch for arcing from the wire to ground
if no spark change crank sensor
if u see spark then you need to check for fuel
also
check fuses and relays
check ASD relay
