1999 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

A problem recently arose with my 99 Dodge Caravan LE.

The air bag light began to come on at random times, accompanied by the alert chime. At first (maybe 2 weeks ago), the light and chime would activate, then go off after 15-20 minutes, but now the light comes on and stays on.

I don't know if it might be related, but today the cruise control would not come on at all.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Hi there,

The first thing to do is go get a scan done to determine the cause of the air bag light, as they are dangerous and special precautions must be taken I would advise that any repairs be done by a qualified mechanic with air bag experience, start here.

I was hoping it might be a loose connector or a fuse, something relatively simple for me, but I was expecting that I'd have to take it to my friendly neighborhood mechanic.
