My caravan, suddenly began overheating yesterday while driving. After letting it cool down, I drove straight home, as I did so, the temperature gauge, would go up, then down. Would it be my thermostat going/gone bad? Or possibly a problem with the water pump?

When was the last Cooling System Service Done?

Were you in and out of traffic when the gauge would fluctuate?

The Thernostat would be the the first to check or just replace.

Also check and make sure the fan(s) are coming on.

Check coolant, check for leak,
repair as needed
very possible a bad thermostat if no leak found in the system
then I would start by replacing the thermostat
good luck
