What is wrong with the van with a 3.3 liter if it back fires from engine and then sometimes it wont but at times it will shut off when in drive at a stop light it also back fires during acceleration autozone code readings said lean

A lean mixture means you are not getting enough gas for the amount of air to the combustion chamber. I would start by checking fuel pump pressure.
