Good Morning:

Wondering if you would please give me any advice on problem I am having with my 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan. First of all I love my Caravan. She is always very reliable and knock on would I haven't had any major issues with her. However she does not like the rain. Cold, snow, wind. No problem. But as far as rain is concerned. She acts like she's having a tantrum. When ever it has been raining, she will start no problem. But about 30 seconds after pulling out of the driveway.I'll be at about 30-40 kms and she won't want to accelerate any further. Sometimes she even makes a putting sound like she is going to stall- but then kicks in and accelerates to a normal speed. This usually only happens the first time you start it up in the rain. You can park and go shopping and come back and it doesn't seem to do it again. It will always do it for the first start of the rainy day. No matter how long I sit and let it warm up. I took it to my mechanic once and he couldn't find anything wrong- I am going back again today. If you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If it only does it in the rain, chances are the plug wires or distributor cap is bad. At night time, when it's dark, start the engine open the hood and mist water on the distributor and all of the plug wires. In the dark, you will be able to see if any of the wires are arcing. If they are, replace them. That is normally the problem.

Let me know what you find of if you have other questions.
