Transmission problem
1995 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1995 Dodge Caravan SE, with a 3.0 motor,
four speed overdrive transmission.
This (trans) was rebuilt 3.5 years ago.
When you drive the van the transmission after it warms up slips from D to 2nd gear, sometimes when you stop and start it the transmission will not go into drive. When you pull over put the van in park and re-start it it is fine.
when you drive it for long periods of time it gets worse. You have to keep pulling over shutting it off and again re-starting it. Please help, any answer's?
Thanks

Yes the check engine light does come on but is not on at all times. Sometimes its not on for some-time then it will re-appear.
Is the speed sensor the input seed or output speed sensor? Thanks again
