Your transmission probably has an electrical problem, or its sensors are detecting slipping if you can get a scanner for the transaxle you can retrieve fault codes that may help to repair it, check the fluid first. Ok?

Fliud is good. First thing I checked. Shifts fine 1st to 2nd. At 2nd-3rd shift it hesitates slightly then goes to "neutral" (slipping) until speed drops enough to go back into 2nd. I have no access to scanner. Does this Dodge still have "engine light " fault codes? I.E. Turn ignition on-off 3 times and count engine light flashes? If so would it tell tranny codes? Thanks for the help :)

Anytime the transmission flares like you say, the two speed sensors detect it and put the unit into a 2nd gear only mode, and the key codes can give you PCM codes but not TCM codes in 94, 95 and up yes. You may have either an internal slipping, or a solenoid problem, the shift solenoids are in the black covered solenoid pack, so if one fails you'll find a code. A inexpensive scan tool, will come with a Chrysler cable, and this is step one after a roadtest and fluid and linkage test. You could try a key on, off, on, off, on and see what you get anyway, I hope everything goes ok, and I'm glad to try and help, of course, thank-you for posting a reply and the information.
