Hello. I have a 1995 dodge avenger, 147,000 miles, 4 cylinder. Every morning when I get in my car, I put it in reverse, then in drive, and after stepping on the gas, the car just sits there and reve's for about 5-10 seconds, and then shoots off and goes. This happens everytime I stop and try to go. If I turn off the car, then turn it back on, the problem kind of goes away, and it switches gears a little better. Same problem everyday. Thanks for the help

Sounds like you may have transmission woes, check the fluid level and condition, it should be red and not smell burned, the level is checked while running, if its low add some fluid and recheck to see if you have the same problem, if fluid is full and dark it may be time for the trans shop

Is doing the same exact thing. Current mileage is 202k. Fluid is good and the level is full. I've been researching this(Mechanically inclined but far from one)) and have found this to be a popular issue. Majority of the responses point to bad input or output sensors or the trans range pack. I have had mine diagnosed at 2different trans places and have gotten 2totally diff answers. One said needed new trans &the other said trans control module. So I myself will personally start w/changing out the sensors(approx $20 each) and then working my way into the higher part prices, if need be.
