One day my warning lights started lighting on and than some off incorrectly, and believe the same day I could not push in the button on the gear shift until the car ran awhile. I went to electrical shop, they removed the after market security and that did not fix it. I drove it this way a couple weeks, with otherwise driving just fine, Than one day after driving it about fifteen miles after I turned it off it would only turn over, just would not start (maybe would run sometimes a second or two and stop). I can hear the fuel pump, there is spark to the spark plugs, but no fuel to the injectors. I have removed battery cables, did the reset security with key on three times, no luck, locked the whole car up and let sit for half an hour and opened drivers door with key after this and nothing so far has worked. I got a 100.00 innova 3040e scanner last night ; it will not read for me- it says OEM enhanced live data is not supported by this vehicle. Also says Class II data link malfunction-U1000 1/44 not passed S C. However strangely in this time of no start one day it started right off and ran until I turned it off and has not started since. Also, I took a relay switch from the air conditioning and exchanged the fuel pump relay with it but did not help. Please can you help? I do not know what to try next. What kind of Scanner do I need to work for this? Thank you so much.

Is your gas gauge inoperable now that it will not start? It sounds just like a bad body control module very common on those have replaced tons of them on that car. One of the symptoms when it goes bad it will not come out of park.

Hey, thank you so much, I have been reading on other repairs on your site and began to think myself that might be what it is. I do not know if you can help me, but what should it say I can do on a scanner to check the body control module? I am going to return this other one. Thanks so much for your help. I will let you know if that fixes it.

Most of the time if the car will not start with a bad BCM the scan tool will not even read the ECM because the BCM is part of the pass through network.
