About 7 months ago, I bought the vehicle listed above CVT. The owner before me told me about a crank/ no start problem. After owning the car for 7 months, I have experienced the problem a total of 12-15 times (I guess). I have done a lot of maintenance to my vehicle so I will make a list because it is quite a bit.
1. Resealed transmission pan.
2. Fuel pump.
3. Front/Rear differential flush and change.
4. Oil changes.
5. PCV valve.
6. MAP sensor.
7. New battery.

I just ordered a crankshaft position sensor, but I'm truly at a loss for words and don't know where else to look so I came here. My family is a bunch of mechanics but even this has them scratching their heads.
I have a fuel pump relay I am replacing this weekend, and after I replace it the only other option I have (i think) is to remove all camshaft position sensors, and to hook a multimeter up to check them. Can anyone make suggestions on what else could possibly be the issue?
This problem isn't worrisome. When the problem occurs I turn the key off and try to start 3 seconds after the key is in the off position it will start every time. I'm not waiting minutes for my re-crank and start. Also, I have been researching about this problem and some people say it could be a part of the Anti-theft system. Any suggestions or comments would help, and I truly appreciate anyone who reads this whole post. Thank you.

Hi,

We need to narrow things down before replacing any more parts. Do this. When it refuses to start, see if it will start using starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know it is a fuel-related issue. If there is no change, check to see if there is spark to the plugs.

Here is a link that explains how it's done:

If there is no spark, then suspect the crankshaft position sensor. If there is spark, the sensor is good.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe
