I learned today that my intake gasket is cracked. We added a sealant to it, will this help? Do I need to leave the vehicle running to give the sealant time to work its way in?

Sealers are usually not something we recommend. While they could work most discover that the leak they hope to seal does not stay sealed but they do end up with plugged heater cores and radiators because the sealant collects in those small passages instead.

My recommendation would be to drain the coolant out, flush the system and replace the gasket (or the lower intake itself if it is damaged) It is not a real hard job and will ensure that you do not end up with other problems the sealer can cause.

That is not a bad price if someone else is doing it.
