I have a busted coolant hose, I ordered a new one, but it doesn’t have that gray plastic piece on the end, is that the coolant sensor?

If you mean this piece in the lower hose, yes that is a coolant temperature sensor. If your old hose has it the replacement will need it as well. If the replacement you have does have the port for it but not the actual sensor, it is a replaceable part that is retained by the clip. You would use a tool to remove the clip, then the sensor pulls out and there is an O-Ring seal. Transfer those over with a new O-Ring and install the clip. If the hose you have doesn't have the port, then it's not for that vehicle. Part should be 80A122055AF for the hose assembly.

If you order the replacement through BMW it comes with the new version installed. I try to avoid any used plastic parts because they have a bad habit of breaking.
