So I get in my car the other morning and the low coolant level was low so I added more and topped it off. Start engine, no leaks anywhere. So as I'm pulling out the driveway I see this big puddle of fluid. I go to work and go to lunch, still no leaks. Next morning I see the puddle again so I topped it off again, drove it all day no problems! Next morning leaks out again. So long story short it only leaks out overnight and it's been doing this for three days. Any idea What you think this could be?

Hello,

I think it is a coolant leak. The best way to check for a cooling system leak is to do a pressure test. It should become readily apparent where the leak is under pressure. But you can also do just a visual inspection, paying close attention to hose clamps, hoses, and the radiator petcock for leaks there. Also look for a spot that has been "washed" from the coolant leak. Here is a link down below for you to go to:

Please go through this guide and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,

Yeah, but why don't I see any leaks while it's running and after I drive it?

Hello,

Do you have excessive white smoke pouring out of your exhaust? This is what happens when your head gasket gets compromised around a coolant port. Coolant will leak into a combustion chamber and get burnt in the combustion process and produce a thick white sweet smelling exhaust plume. Here is a link you can go to down below that explains how to test your head gasket for failure:

Here is another one for white exhaust smoke:

Hello and welcome to 2CarPros. When you let your vehicle sit over night on where is the puddle located? It seems like the leak is only present once the cooling system is pressurized and as SCWICKEDSTANG stated on his earlier post a coolant pressure test is required.

If you can upload a picture to see if it is on the driver side, passenger side, the front middle or rear middle we may be able to try and guide you in the right direction?

I know at one point the XC60 had a problem with the bleed hose leaking which turned into a campaign but it was the very first models that came out? Can you upload a picture of the puddle before you move the vehicle?
