Good morning,

The codes you provided, $7E8 and $7E9, are not specific error codes. They are generic codes that are used by some scan tools or code readers to indicate that there are additional codes stored in the vehicle's Engine Control Module (ECM). The $7E8 code typically refers to the engine, while the $7E9 code refers to the transmission.

These are CAN codes so you have a PCM or BCM that is not working but I have seen these cars needing a TIPM which is easy to replace because it self initializes.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

It says 1 of 3. I only see 2.

You need to go to a parts store and have them read it in the correct format.

Just in case others have questions on this. This is a pretty common issue on these vehicles. TIPM stands for Totally Integrated Power Module, but this vehicle does not have a TIPM. It has an IPM Integrated Power Module. Slightly different but basically does the same thing.

These codes are very common but they are actually a generic scan tool issue on not being able to read the actual codes that are there.

The most common correction of this is a TIPM or IPM as the circuit boards fail and cause all sorts of different issues. It is very common.

I attached the process below for more info on how to replace it.
