I'm getting that code. I may have a loose pipe connection after catalytic converter.
Do I need to look at 2nd 02 sensor after catalytic converter and what else should I look at?
I have a elm tool and can test 02 readings also.
Thanks

Hi,

The code indicates the O2 sensor for bank 2 isn't working as it should. In most cases, this is an indication of a failed converter, but there are other things that can cause or lead to it.

I attached the diagnostics below related to the code. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable doing them.

As far as the P2000, that isn't relevant for this vehicle. That is something that would be related to a diesel-powered vehicle. All engines produce NOx gases (nitric oxide).
On a gas engine, the catalytic converter takes care of the issue. A NOx "trap" does it on a diesel engine. It resembles a catalytic converter but is made differently inside.

If you look at pic 4 below, I highlighted the sensor.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

I'm not getting code again after reset a securing 02 wires an resecure gas cap.
It read pretty good on the trim an 02 LTFT an STFT 02volts also . Ill try to take a pic. On readings.
I'm still wondering though, is p0432.-The driver's side or passenger side bank 2 [ after the 2 cats at engine ].

Hi,

Bank 1 is on the driver's side of the vehicle and bank 2 is on the passenger side.

If you look at the pic below, the sensor locations are different based on how the vehicle was ordered. On the left are the locations for CA emission systems. The one on the right is related to basic Federal emissions systems.

Note that the pics indicate the location and which sensor is at each location.

Let me know if this helps you. Also, let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Oddly I only have 4 at front area.
Thanks, so its passenger downstream!
I will monitor it and test if needed.
Made it 100 miles an no cel. Hopefully I can get it through marta soon after elm tool says its ready.
I don't have a 02 by that rear single cat.
An I'm in Tn. Though it looks similar to CA emissions chart.

Interestingly, I found more info. Take a look below. The driver's side is bank one for sure. See pic 1.

Pics 2 and 3 show variations of sensor locations and identify the sensor.

See if anything matches your vehicle better.

Let me know.

Thats interesting. Yes, I have as 1st pic shows with 4.
But that statement on v6 v8
i dare to challenge.
Mine have as first pic -
2 upstream 2 downstream both before rear cat.
I made it around 200 miles with starts and stops off and on, and even threw some seafoam in tank- and no more codes. And the 02 readings look very balanced and level with both the bank 2s staying 96% ish. And both bank 1 are staying in range
d.
I'm guessing it might have been a 02-wiring harness or unsecured gas cap.
I'm still stumped at what set the code.
I'm going to look at plugs and see what they look like.
What is the gap for these and which brand does well on these motors?

Hi,

If the code returns, let me know. As far as the readings you mentioned, what does the 96% refer to? Normally when testing an O2 sensor, I'm watching voltage changes.

I attached the gap for the spark plugs below. The truck came with Champion brand plugs from the factory. I've never had much luck with them. As a result, I always request NGK plugs and never had an issue.

Pic 2 shows the OEM plug and part number. I got the pic online and had the part number here.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks. Yep, NGK is what I have in it now. I may stay with that, though I hear Autolite regular is good on these too. NGK burns hotter.
I will see how they look.

Hi,

Yes, I've had good luck with them as well. The most important thing is to make sure the gap is properly set. Also, when installing the new ones, make sure not to hit the end of the plug off the head. Lol I have had people bring in their vehicles after a tune-up at home only to find the gap was pushed shut or they rubbed it against the head and packed it with grease and dirt.

Take care of yourself and let me know how things turn out for you.
