Code p0301 is popping up on my car along with the traction control light and stabilizer light is also on. Swapped fuel injectors and nothing changed spark plugs and nothing. I even bought a new spark plug to put in the number one cylinder and nothing. Bought a new coil pack for it and nothing still has changed. Has new crankshaft sensor on it along with a new mass air flow sensor and cylinder one is still popping up with a misfire.

Good morning.

From your description, the only thing you have not done is a compression test to verify the cylinder can produce power.

I would start there. You can rent a tester at a parts store for this procedure.

I did a compression test and I did a fuel pressure test as well and everything is fine. I have compression in that cylinder.

Now something is draining my battery. I need to know what is wrong with this car it has been a good car up until now. I have not had any real major issues with until now. I have an appointment to take it in to the shop tomorrow to have a diagnostics done on it and I am hoping it is something simple I just need help so I can get it fixed.

They will most likely look at the compression as well when they check it. They will also look to see if it something mechanical in the valve train.

You have done the basics but it leaves only something mechanical.

As far as the draining, a parasitic draw test needs to be done to see how many amps are drawing on the battery with the engine off. Once that is determined and then they will need to isolate the circuit that is causing the draw. Then they can determine what is causing the draw.

Hi, I am back. I have not got my car back but did get off the phone with the shop that is doing the diagnostics on it. They did a compression test on it and said that one side of the engine has better compression than the other side. But are also saying it could be timing chain or something to do with with a solenoid or something with the cam. I am not sure if it was the actuator or something else with the cam.

Okay, that would not cause the 301 code. That will not come from the chain.

After all those lights came on is when it started acting funny, but it is weird cause the traction light and stability light came on before the check engine light started flashing.

The flashing check engine light is the 301 code.

The ABS and trac light is from a ABS fault. They need to pull the code and find out the failure.

Cannot answer that. I am here and not there. That is what a diagnostic is for. They will look at the freeze frame data to see when and why they came on.

If they are a good shop, they should be able to give you those answers in about two hours of testing.

Not the 301 code and definitely not anything to do with the ABS and trac.

You need a new shop that knows what they are doing.

You do not need a dealer, just a shop that will do a proper diagnostic and address your questions and give you answers.

This guy is hung up on the chain but not addressing your cylinder one misfire or the ABS issue.

True, but do not know anyone else that will or can do a proper diagnostic on it beside a dealership.
