Hi Gabrielle,

It was nice speaking with you today, here is the video, please watch to see the job that was done:

https://youtu.be/6N6b5F2ChyE

I spoke to Ken and we are going to try changing the fluid in the transmission because it sounds like the third gear synchro is worn and hopefully the fluid will give it a little more grab and stop the grinding.

Please let me know what happens.

Joe, I spoke with your boss Ken today. He had already spoken with my Ken and explained that he believes it's the transmission. That's why it's grinding in third, if it was the clutch it would be grinding in all gears. He suggested to them that they change transmission fluid. In efforts to extend life expectancy. I'm going to need new transmission in near future. Ken got me to think about buying another car.

It's kind of weird, today I was driving three miles to the shop only maybe twice grinded in third.

Shop still has my car 2:33pm. When I get it back I'll explain more.

Oh and I asked Ken your boss if it was okay to send you something he said okay and to contact with you on it.

Welcome back,

There is absolutely no need to send anything. We are here to help you. (And I realize in this day and age, that seems odd) LOL. I actually spoke with Ken earlier regarding you and this issue. We both agree it sounds like the third gear synchronizer is going bad. It makes sense that the clutch is working fine, otherwise it would make noise when shifting into any gear.

Now, for the picture you attached. It was found in the engine compartment? Is it plastic and hollow? It's hard to tell for sure, but it appears to the the fresh air inlet tube that would attach to the air filter box under the hood.

Check the air filter box to see if something is missing where fresh air enters the box and let me know.

Hi there again. I took my car back to them this morning in the mechanic on duty there couldn't figure out how to attach that piece. L was asked to come back tomorrow so the mechanic that worked on my car can attach it.
The piece (air duct) attaches to the battery compartment and extends somewhere between the radiator and the headlight assembly. I do not know. Do you?

Sorry, I haven't got back to you sooner, but I've been ill better now. You know all the process of being getting my car fixed. I'm going to start at the ending that is that they fixed the clutch and that it was going to be maybe a little bit different shifting into gears but I did have difficulties getting into third base it was grinding a little bit. So starting from there since I've driven in a few miles not very many I'm having difficulties getting it into any gear sometimes especially into first. My question to you is this all the information that I've gathered is that it wouldn't be the transmission if it goes into all gears regarding the third gear grinding. I'm asking you now what could it be if it's starting to get harder into any gear especially into first after I start my car? Thank you for your assistance in advance. Gabrielle

Yep, this is a sign the clutch disc is having issues could be due to a warped plate. Here is a video of the FWD clutch job being down on a similar car:

and

Please run down this guide and report back.

I am kicking myself for not taking it in. I have the utmost certainty that I would have completed the repairs with no errors. These mechanics and managers are incompetent.
This is serious issues. I'm not driving it, not safe to drive.
I'm beside myself.

Ken. Omg. Now today I smell an awful odor. Almost like burnt rubber but not I do not like like hot metal. I know its not one of the stages of engine oil.
Low miles since repair.
Stopped in shop 11 today. Can't see my car until Friday and wants to keep my car for a couple days. Extremely disappointed, upset, called corporate who called diff shop locations. One tech just left for vacation. Other which is distance away first said no, on return call she spoke with manager, Ricky and she left me voice mail stating that they do not like working on clutches, that he read notes on acct. And prob is transmission, take it to Aamco. I already done that. (You'll recall third gear issue.) Anyway on voicemail she's confident that Ricky manager will get his top mechanic on it and if I needed towed whatever here take care of it.
Well I listened to Holly's voice mail, called Ricky manager to set appointment tomorrow 7:00 am. My perception is that Ricky is not all that inclined to deal with my issue. He stated they'd take for a test drive and see if we see anything. What? I mean I don't know where to go at this point I don't want them driving my car any more than shoot.
I'm very upset and I really don't know how to handle this. I want them to fix it right. They need to do while job over again. New parts and all.
Obviously something was done incorrectly. I know that to be true. What do you think? Thank you for your time.
$1,850.00 my money they have. I have what?

Welcome back, Gabrielle,

You are allowed to vent. LOL Listen, I understand you don't want them driving the vehicle. What I suggest is to take them with you driving and show them what is happening. If they then need to drive it, you ride along. I understand your concerns.

As far as the smell, that has me a bit concerned. Can you pinpoint approximately where it is coming from?

Let us know what is happening or if you need anything.

Joe

Joe, I just got done driving my car safe for approximately at the most 6 miles and it is 96° today in Sacramento and I park my car I get out go around to the passenger side and as I was walking I smelt this kind of odor now that you're bound and I'm parked in the street. So I'm thinking maybe it was one of the other cars or something but he was in the night go to the passenger side open the door I smelled it again am I skipping sniffing like a dog and it drew me to the middle of the car but then it wasn't like it was how do I say it I could smell it but it wasn't continuously and it the same spot because at that point I went to the back open my backup my friend and I were in the back of the car with the with the hatch up I got another whiff. I couldn't exactly pinpoint it I tried.

If only I would have done it myself if I have the means to do have done it I would have trust me on that. I didn't have the facility to lift my car nor did I have the proper jacks.

I understand. Honestly, make sure nothing has melted on the exhaust system. I have had people over the years come in thinking their cars were on fire, but in reality, it was nothing more than a plastic bag melted to the catalytic converter that they ran over. When the smell comes from under the car, like you said, it's hard to tell exactly where it's coming from because heat, air flow and so on keeps moving it.

Let me know if it is something that simple.

Take care,
Joe

Still going Energizer Bunny LOL.
I'm going to send you a video. Tell me what you think?

Corporate office and I agreed that the best route to take would be to file complaint and the district manager will handle it so that you can find someone within his their corporation that is able to fix my car because apparently no one in my surrounding area can.

Thank you. God bless.

Help me with this Ken with Firestone is refunding my $1,850.00 he says that he believes I have other issues. Or. Transmission.
Questions for you. You know all symptoms and repairs. What would be my next step? Could Ken maybe refer me to a good shop in Sacramento that could check repair both clutch and transmission?

Any advice for you guys would most appreciated. I believe in you guys.
Gabrielle

And why is the manager is so apt to give me back my dollars after he had set an appointment for me on Monday.
