When I start my car, it makes a clicking noise where the gear shift is and does it in park, when I put it in drive and it stops.

Hi,

It sounds like the shift interlock actuator. The interlock solenoid is part of the shifter. What I would suggest is to remove the trim panel and check for a loose wire. If it appears tight, clean, and undamaged, disconnect it. Check the red wire to it for continuous power when the key is on, and the brake pedal is depressed. The actuator is powered via the brake light switch.

If you look below, I attached the directions for selector lever replacement. If you find continuous power and there are no issues with the wiring connector, chances are the selector lever will need to be replaced. However, if when checking power to the red wire you find it is intermittent, then we have a wiring issue.

Here is a link you may find helpful:

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have other questions or need help. Also, let me know how things turn out for you.

Take care,

Joe

Note: The directions are for the replacement of the shifter assembly. I'm providing them so you can see how to take apart the center console. You simply need to inspect the wiring connector.

Hi,

I don't want to bother you, but I was wondering if you had any success. I'm interested in knowing.
