Engine Cooling problem
1997 Citroen Saxo Two Wheel Drive Manual 110000 miles

My sons car was overheating so instead of stopping he sped up to try and cool then engine down! This worked periodically but when he stopped he heard a "pop" and the car wouldn't start. The AA man looked at it, shock his head and towed him home. Apparently there was oil and coolant everywhere.

Any advice as to what is wrong. The car is a 1997 Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6

Thanks

Accelerating like that under overheating condition will cause major internal damage to the engine and more than likely has warped the cylinder heads. Suspect an engine overhaul or replacement will be required. The oil and coolant was everywhere because the head gasket cracked due to the overheating which allowed it to leak out.
