I have a 1995 chrysler mini van caravan 140,000 on a rebuilt engine 3.0litre engine. Now my problem is this my wife went out van worked fine she came home and we were going out that evening and nothing except the starter whinning and this was it. So I took the starter in and they said it was fine so the person that checked it had doubts so I just bought a new one reman actually anyway after this was installed nothing still the whinninh like it wanted to go but after a few turns it just seemed that the only thing that was turning over was the starter. I have spark I have fuel because after I crank it a few times I smell fuel and I hear the buzzing at first when I crank it so the fuel pump is working. Now I was wondering if the starter relay would do this? And if so where is this relay? Or maybe something else I cant get codes out of it because I have removed the cables when I threw this new starter into it but the wife said it was running fine before and then like I said when we went to go out that night just the starter was whining and wouldnt start. Thanks for any help here. And if there is anybody that needs some help as well well i`ve got alot of insight on the minivan as i`ve been at these for 5 years now and do know these pretty good so ya I can also be of help. Take-care.

Pull the starter back out and look at the flywheel see if any teeth are missing or damaged

My son just informed me dad this was the first thing you had looked at so ya I have done this!
You see now I just tried to start it up and it seems that just the starter is going nothing else just this? Wierd it dont even sound like the engine itself is turning but i`ve looked and the gears are all going around so it isnt the timing belt the rotor turns i`ve removed the cap and watched and its going so? Anyway this has me stumped for once usually I can get it going no matter but vehicles are a funny thingggggg
thanks

Ok if the rotor is moving then the engine is turning over however if it sounds like just the starter it may mean you have no compression this could be becouse the timing belt jumped timing take a look at the timing belt under the cover see if tis frayed if so check the timing marks and make sure they line up if the engine sounds like what your describing a coil would have nothing to do with this nor would the throttle position sensor let me know what you find also I have seen a few engines where the camshaft broke in half this could also be the problem but check timing belt first

Well i`ve looked at the timing belt and all is alright there with this, now still i`m just getting the starter running and it seems like there is no compression happening like it normally sounds when it kicks over I dont hear this? The cam shaft is ok its not broken. Now i`m really mixed up here everything seems alright but wont crank over i`ve even changed the oil and cleaned up the plugs because it was flodded I did smell gas on each of the 6 plugs so I did this and then when I went to try and start it again I smelled gas all over again? And so I took off the hose going to the throttle body and it had some oil and gas mixed? I`ve never seen this before wow! Something new at every corner it seems lately.
Thanks for any help anybody can give on this issue

Well i`ve got this problem here to do with half shafts on a 1995 dodge caravan 3.0l front wheel drive of course. Now my question here is this I cant remember if the half shaft on the drivers side being the smaller one as there are 2 one long and 1 short now the short one here should the shaft go in all the way to where the shaft is flush with the tranny housing or should it protrude some out of the transaxle? Because mine protrudes some and to me it looks like just 2 much
thanks alot
