Steering problem
2002 Chrysler Town and Country Front Wheel Drive Automatic 93000 miles

Hi I checked the other questions, but couldn't find what I needed. My Town and Country van has been losing it's power steering just for a few seconds each time I get to the end of my driveway and shift from reverse to drive. So far that is the only time it has happened, but it has been happening every day especially first thing in the a.M. I have another similar question, but it is about another car, so I will post it separately. Thanks for your help.

Hello charmedlife

The power steering pump is the problem and must be replaced, because the control valve that monitor the turning effort on the wheel and provide the correct amount of assist might be defective.
Replace the entire pump.

You stated that you have a similar problem with a different vehicle. Is the problem the same with both vehicles? Is this the only time you notice the problom with your power steering on both vehicles? And the big ones, What is your other vehicle and what is your driveway and exit drive like?

Let me know before you change your pump. Mathiaso may be correct, but if you are having the same problem with two different vehicles in the same place it may be enviromental instead of mechanical.
