I went to startup my minivan this morning
but for no reason it did not startup when I tried
to start it up. I just heard the engine cranking but it did not want to startup. I took the battery out and recharged it. I put it back on and the car started. I want to know if the battery needs to be changed or the alternator? By the way, the battery is only three years old.

The only way to be sure is to take the vehicle to an auto parts store and have them test your electrical system. They will bring out their machine and test your battery, starter, and alternator.

CAUTION: If they say the alternator, do not purchase and/or install new alternator until we discuss the problem.
