Use of champion plugs only

I recently tuned my 1999 Sebring 2.5L with my plug of choice Autolite. The engine was misfiring horribly. I went up one heat range. Same problem. I called my local dealer and was told I had to use Champion plugs (worst plugs made, my opinion). I installed the Champion plugs and engine runs great. I have never encountered this situation in my 54 years of life. Can anyone explain this? I told a mechanic friend of mine this story and now he thinks I'm nutso. Please help! Thanks Les Dane

I too have found that there are times that going to the OEM plug makes a difference. I almost always use autolite also. Seems that the NGK applications are the most sensitive. Why? I don't know.

I heard the engineers for autos are divorced women from mechanics.
