Sebring won't accelerate

My 1995 sebring coupe has a 6 cly and 140,000 miles. When I try to accelerate I press the gas and nothing happens. Eventualy it catches. Heres the strange part, when the check engine light comes on it runs like a dream. Its gotten new plugs new plug wires can't figure it out

So you saying that the its not moving until it catches.
Sounds to me like its the transmission causeing the promblem. Check the trans. Fluid in natural making sure the parking brake is set or some kind measure is taken so car wont roll. If the trans. Fluid is low this could cause it.
