I took the car to a repair work hop and he told me that i do have to replace my water pump?

Hello! Sir thank you for you're time ... i have a 1999 chrysler sebring convertible car it has got 1.48k miles on it recently my car is getting heated up i see that whenever i star my car the heat meter is up and is touching the high point. I took the car to a repair work shop and he told me that i do have to replace my water pump from where the water is leaking and he gave me an estimate of $1000 i really wanted to know how much is it going to cost for me to replace the water pump because i am an international student can't really afford to pay such a big amount so sir i request you to do me a favour please let me know how much is it going to cost to replace a water pump in 1999 chrysler sebring ..... thank you for your time sir!

Hello,

In order to replace the water pump, the timing belt needs to be removed as well with few other components. That is why the cost of the water pump replacement is high.
Since you did not include the engine size I have included replacement procedure for both 2.4L and 2.5L engines.(see below)

Remember to only work on the engine when it is cold.
