Car won't start but clicks rapidly when key is turned? Solenoid or starter?

It sounds like a weak battery. If the battery is good, then you need to remove the starter and have it bench tested at a parts store. Most will do it for free.

Try jump starting it to see if that takes care of the problem. If it does, have the battery load tested. Again, a parts store will do it.
