1989 Chrysler New Yorker Car stalling while driving

My car stalled this morning while driving. It has happen before about 2 or three times. Not very often, maybe once a month.

the times before I would give it about 15 minutes and then it would start back up. This morning it didn't even after about 1 hour. A friend came by and looked at it, played around with the distributor cap and then later it started to work.

What would cause this?

It could be a few things. What I need you to do is the next time it happens, check to see if you are getting fuel and spark to the engine. One will most likely be missing and then we will know what direction to go.
