1984 c10 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton with a 305

My power windows do not want to go up or down. Window motor on drivers side I hear a slip also no up or down movement, On passengers side don't hear nothing and no movement.

what could be the cause? And what would be the best way to fix? I was thinking of just replacing the window motor, switches, and wiring also window regulator?

I was just wondering if you started to have problems at the same time or were they seperate problems. One side sounds like it's striped and the other sounds like its dead.

Ok, take off the drivers side door panel. Then look in and see whats going on. The gear on the motor or window could be damaged. The motor is probably the easiest to remove and inspect. Be real carefull. Some windows have a spring assist and when you remove the motor it could spring and you don't want to lose fingers or any thing else. Some times the window will drop into the door also so be carefull.
Now the pass side, check the switch and make sure you have your voltage there and also check at the motor. See if the motor is bolted in or rivited in. If rivited some times over the years the rivets get loose and the electric motor will lose its ground. Just another thing to check. Let me know how you make out.
