What should I do?
1975 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup-Model C10
Mileage: 160,000
Automatic, 2 wheel drive
Noise: Knocking noise while engine is running. Starts up fine.
I am wanting to sell this truck, but I need to know if I should fix the problem first. I have oil leak, but the dip stick shows oil. Possible oil pump out, but why would I have oil registering on the dip stick still?
What is envolved in replacing the oil pump? What other things should be checked. I want to fix it as cheap as I can in order to sell as a working truck.
Fixing the problem or replace with another engine?

Thank You

Well the reason why the engine is making a knocking, Sound is from lack of oil been pumped through the engine, In which a lack of motor oil, Other moving work parts become unlubed causing, Engine wear, Bottom end bearings, Worn piston rings and oil & compression rings. Could just replace the pump and then quick sell it. Or spend $400$600, On another engine, to sell it for bit more money.

I want to thank you for your response. You answered my question exactly what I needed to hear. I felt the same way about the noise. If it didn't have oil going through it then it would make noise.

Thanks Again
