2002 2 wheel drive 110k miles standard engine.
I am getting some engine codes that are #shift solenoid, and ovedrive solenoid. When I first start up the vehicle, the gear light, speedo, instruments do not come on right away, after that when I drive the check engine light comes on, and the tranny will not go into overdrive while driving, thus the shift solenoid codes. If I turn off the vehicle and start it again and get the gear light and spedo and instruments to come on it all works fine, no problem. I have checked all fuses and solenoids I could get to and none out. It happens about every 3rd time I start the vechicle, each and every time it codes out. After starting it and everything working service engine light goes off, The chevrolet dealer thinks its the PCM, any suggestions on how to diagnos the problem? How can I determine if it is the solenoids in the tranny or the PCM?

Many thanks in advance.

I bought a new pcm had it programed, still same thing, returned pcm no charge. Put snap on scanner on still getting code P0740 scanner suggest ignition solenioid or battery ground wire. Tightend ground wire and changed solenoid, seems to work ok now. Scanner said it also might be a TCC solenoid valve in the tranny. If it codes again will try that, some tranny guys say try the prindle or neutral start switch.
Still hoping for a solution?

Thanks.
