I have a 1996 Chevy Cavalier with a mileage of 120959. When I first bought my car, I had some trouble, and I replaced the Idle Air Control Valve and it was fine. That was the only problem I had with it until now. It is kind of acting the way it was then, but it's not the same. When it starts up, the engine sputters a little, and when it is driving, up until about the 30 mph mark, it goes very slow building up speed, even if I have the pedal to the floor, it goes very slow and sputters til I builds up speed. Today, I went to back out of a parking space, and it stalled 2 times on me. I was wondering if this is linked to the previous problem, or if this is something different. Please help.

I hope that I'm replying to this right:-) but I have not seen any white smoke, if there is, it wouldn't be a lot. I stood behind it, and didn't see anything, but it's possible that it just wasn't emitting any at that time maybe.

Normally your engine is a peppy item. Try reving the engine in neutral and see if it sounds any stronger. I want to elimiunate the tranny as the source of the problem.

Try putting the gear selector in L and manually shift it through the gears as you drive. Let me know.
