my engine starts up fine but when I put the transmission in gear the motor dies.

Hi:
First, is the check engine light on? You may want to scan the computer scanned for trouble codes. It may be a sensor causing the problem. Also, check for vacuum leaks. Listen for hissing sounds from the engine area.

When you put it in gear, does it immediatly die or does it spudder and can you keep it running?
