1990 Chevy Truck Engine shuts off

I have a 1990 Chevy k2500 Silverado 3/4 ton 4x4 pick up truck. It doesnt matter if the engine is cold or hot, the engine shuts off when put into reverse and drive. Can you help me and let me know whats wrong.

That is a new one for me. When you start it does it run good? Can you rev the engine a little and see how it sounds? Are you brakes locked up, or is your emergancy brake stuck (though truck should be powerful enough to push through the E-brake) tell me a little more and I will see if I can help, or make a small donation for a pro to get involved.

When I put it in gear like reverse or drive with out the brakes, the engine shuts off, like its not getting gas
