Engine Mechanical problem 1987 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual Hello there. Thank you for looking at this for me. I put a carberator on my 87 3/4 ton. It hasn't been started in a couple years and I was wondering what I can do to get it started. I put a little of fuel directly into it and it would start for a couple seconds and then die. It would only start onse I put a little gas back into the carberator. If I pushed the gas pedal It would immediately die. Any suggustions on how I can keep it started and running? There is also a fuel regulator on it.

First, check to see if the carb is getting gas by cracking the fuel line open a little at the carb. And cranking the engine a little. If there is fuel getting to the carb, then the float may be stuck. Is it a 4 barrel or 2 barrel? And what type of carb is it? Holley, Rochester etc. When you say you put a carb on the engine, is it a new carb? If so, was the old intake system carburated or injected? Is the fuel pump mechanical or electric?
