Suburban overheating

I just replaced the water pump on my 97 suburban. It was making a sporadic squealing-grinding, so I thought it could be the bearings on the pump- but now that the new pump is in, it is overheating and the heater doesn't blow hot air. What could the problem be?

Sounds like you may have air trapped in the system. I not all that familar with your make and model but I 'am sure there is a way to bleed the air out of the system. Good luck
