2001 Chevy Tahoe V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 160k miles

Mytahoe won't start. I thought it was the fuel pump so I replaces that. Befor mounting it back into the gas tank I se it in a bucket of gas and wired it back up to verify it worked. Still no fuel being delivered out of the pump. If used a volt meter to verify power as well as changed out fuel pump fuse and still nothng. Any ideas?

No. I figured ground was already in wiring and would ground once adapters were hooked up. The wiring from the assembly goes to what appears to be a little cyllinoid box wich bolts on to the rear cross member. That wiring in turn runs to the front of the vehicle. The bolt holding the cyllinoid to the cross member, could that be the ground?
