Wont go in to 4 wheel drive

Transmission problem V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 161000 miles

my 1997 tahoe has push button 4 wheel drive, it wont go into 4 wheel hi or low, the light flashes on the switch, and I hear it click under the thuck once. But it wont engage. Im looking for info on this set up, and a place to start my trobleshooting.

I experienced the same problem yesterday on my 1996 Tahoe with 108,000 miles on it. Any new infomation available? I hate the thought of taking into the shop.

This is a sign that the control switch has gone out, It happened to my truck years ago and the switch fixed it.
