Computer problem
2005 Chevy Suburban V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

All instument gages, fuel, RPM, vol. Temp. Ect. All go dead and then all light up like a christmas tree and work. A local parts store said that it was due to the trailer ground shorting out. The problem is worse with everything being out for days. On a recent road trip every thing came on after 35-45 min. Of driving. Once the Surbaban is turned off everything is dead. Another (friend) mech. Says that we need a new cluster. Est. 600$ to 1000$ What is your best suggestion.

Check to see if the plug behnd the cluster is loose and then have the cluster checked for being bad. I think there is a place in fla wher eyou can get those overhauled for about $150. I saw it on truckU tv on the speeed channel I think it was. They have a web site and it would be on one of the advertisers there. By the way if you bought extended warranty it should be covered. Unless you are out by mileage.
